Healthy Chips

*SW = Slimming World / US = Unislim

If you’re looking to reduce your intake of deep fired food then here is a deliciously easy way to continue to enjoy chips with any meal! In this section you will find how to make regular chips, seasoned chips and salt chilli/spice bag chips!

Plain/seasoned chips:

Free on SW(when using 1 cal cooking spray) and US.

  • Wash and cut up potatoes into chips or wedges then transfer to a large plastic bowl.
  • Spray well with low calorie oil spray and season with a sprinkle of salt. If you are looking to add a bit more flavour then add a good sprinkle of paprika (hot/smoked/regular or sweet is fine I prefer to use hot), a sprinkle of cayenne pepper and tiny sprinkle of garlic granules.
  • Toss carefully until all chips are covered evenly!
  • Lay out on a chip tray making sure the chips aren’t touching each other to ensure the best crispness 😉
  • Into preheated oven at 200 degrees celcius for 30 min then serve!

Ever get that craving for some real naughty food but really want to stay on track? Problem solved! No more shall you be dialing the Chinese for a grease riddled box of oily chips and chicken! Yes, you really can make your own version with no compromise on taste or flavour, PLUS it has the added bonus of helping trim that waistline 😉 (and might I add these tasty little beasts are completely FREE on both SW and US)! No more ordering from the take away when you can make your very own in a much healthier and just as tasty way!

To make:

  • Wash and chop your potatoes into chips or wedges.
  • Pop into a large bowl and spray well with Frylight. Toss and spray and repeat to ensure even coverage.
  • Season chips with Schwartz chips seasoning OR make your own with paprika, salt and cayenne pepper.
  • Mix well then layer evenly on a chip pan (I use one from dealz/euro shop). Cook at 200 degrees for 25-30 min.
  • While the chips are in, fry off some lean diced chicken(optional) & cut up (nice and chunky) some white onions, slice some peppers and spring onions (fresh chilli optional).
  • Add in 1 big tsp lazy garlic (can use garlic powder or cloves either), a good sprinkle of Chinese 5 spice and chilli powder/flakes, a crackling of salt and pepper and fry lightly -softening just enough that they still have a slight crunch to them then take off the heat and put a side.
  • Once chips are done gently put chips and onion mix into a big frying pan/wok on low heat and gently mix together.

Serve and enjoy!
